Srinagar/UNI: Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Saifuddin Soz on Saturday has appealed to the Centre to facilitate return of Kashmiri students from Iran.

Prof Soz in a statement this afternoon said that he has written to the Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jainshankar, that, among other countries, especially China, Iran is experiencing Coronavirus.

'I pleaded strongly with the External Affairs Minister that it is a worrisome situation for Kashmir from where many people have travelled to Iran for studies and other pursuits in life,' he said, adding, 'I have requested him to ensure that these students should travel back to their families as per their own requirement.

He further said he has also emphasised the fact that the Ministry should ask the Ambassador of India in Tehran to procure facts regarding Kashmiri students and facilitate their travel back home or as the circumstances warrant.
