New Delhi, Sept 5 (IBNS) : Thousands of farmers and workers from across the country on Wednesday marched from the Ramlila Maidan to Parliament street for a  Kisan-Mazdoor Sangharsh rally to press for their various demands, reports said.

The protesters, who started arriving in the national capital since Tuesday, will take the procession to Jantar Mantar from Parliament street.

The demands of the protesters are effective implementation of labour laws, minimum wage, more employment, and recognition of one crore Anganwadi and ASHA workers as a workforce.
The Kisan-Mazdoor Sangharsh rally has been organised by different frontal organisations of the CPI(M) — Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) and All India Agriculture Workers Union (AIAWU).

Those who participated in the Kisan March in Maharashtra in March this year to demand a loan waiver and proper minimum support price for farmers are also attending the rally.

"This is the biggest rally of the working people that Delhi has seen in decades. The entire 1 km stretch from Parliament Street police station to the outer circle of Connaught circus is full of people carrying Red Flags, so is the Tolstoy marg," a twitter post of the CPI(M) said.

Sansad Marg,Janpath and KG Marg are closed for traffic movement due to procession/demonstration and motorists are advised to take Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Ashoka Road as alternative route, the traffic police tweeted.
