Farmers to observe hunger strike today

New Delhi/UNI: The protesting farmers will observe a one-day hunger strike to build more pressure on the Centre to repeal the farm laws.

The farmer leaders will sit on the proposed hunger strike between 0800 hours and 1700 hours to intensify their agitation.

The farmers will observe the hunger strike at Gazipur, Tikri, Singhu borders and other places. The farmers camping on Delhi borders for more than two weeks, seeking the repeal of the three laws enacted by the Government.

The farmers intensified their agitation on Saturday. 

Meanwhile, Haryana Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala have met several Central Ministers to increase pressure for further round of talks with the farmers.

The farmers across the country demonstrated at many toll plazas and tried to hamper the collection of toll tax.

Many more farmer groups have left for Delhi on Sunday to join the protest, while many also headed for Delhi- Jaipur Highway.

Meanwhile, the Haryana, UP and Delhi Police have stepped up security arrangements at the borders, deploying additional CAPF personnel, along with other measures, such as concrete boulders and barricading.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also announced to keep one day fast in support of the farmers and also made an appealed to his supporters and common people to observe fast for the farmers.
