Srinagar/UNI: A shrine of Hazrat Mir Mohammad Syed Ali Hamdani was damaged in a fire incident at Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama late Monday night, official sources said.

They said fire broke out in the shrine of Hazrat Hamdani in Tral late last night. However, locals along with police and Fire and Emergency Service (F&ES) personnel immediately swung into action and brought the leading flames under control. A portion of the shrine suffered damage, they said adding police has registered a case and started investigation.

The cause of fire was now known, they added.

Sources said people of the area, joined by others from nearby villages, protested against the fire incident.

They alleged that administration and management of the shrine have failed to install CCTV camera around the shrine and demanded thorough probe into the fire incident.
