Five hardcore NDFB(S) militants apprehended in Assam
Guwahati, Jan 27 (IBNS): Security forces on Tuesday apprehended five hardcore militants belonging to NDFB(S) including two wanted militants of Assam police from Udalguri and Sonitpur district, officials said.
Assam police IGP of BTAD LR Bisnoi said that, Udalguri police had nabbed two cadres of NDFB(S) and recovered arms and ammunition in the BTAD district.
"Based on intelligence input police had launched operation at Khusrabari Habi area under Udalguri police station and nabbed the militant duo, " LR Bisnoi said.
The nabbed militants were identified as Dhananjoy Basumutary alias B Didum and Sanjay Basumutary.
Security forces recovered a 7.65mm pistol with magazine, one point 22 pistol with magazine, three 36HE hand grenades, one ignitor set, three rounds of 7.65mm ammunition and one round of point 22 ammunition in possession from them.
"Among the nabbed militants, Dhananjoy Basumutary is the Lance Corporal of Udalguri platoon of the militant group, " Bisnoi said.
In separate incident, security personnel had nabbed three NDFB(S) militants in Sonitpur district.
Police and army had jointly launched operation at Sarakpur Dhuli Nalah, remote village bordering with Arunachal Pradesh in Sonitpur district and nabbed the militants identified as Nitul Daimary alias Naihab, Runilush Daimary alias Mwnthai and Sukson Basumutary alias Jondesh.
Security forces recovered an AK-47 rifle one Chinese rifle, one hand grenade in possession from them.
Police said the, Nitul Daimary is the self styled deputy commander of 3rd battalion of the outfit group and was allegedly involved in the killing of former Addition SP of Sonitpur district Gulzar Hussain in an ambush at Thaolo under Dhekiajuli police station on January 28 last year.
Security forces had apprehended at least 90 militants so far during the operation against militants following Assam carnage on December 23 last year.
