Five Indian fishermen arrested by Sri Lankan Navy

Ramanathapuram, Feb 22 (UNI/IBNS) : Another five Tamil Nadu fishermen were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy on Friday for allegedly fishing in the island nations's waters.

Official sources said that the fishermen from Mandapam were fishing near Neduntheevu, when they were arrested. Sri Lankan Navy took the arrested fishermen to Talaimannar Navy camp, the sources said.

It may recalled that five fishermen from Jagadapattinam in Pudukottai district were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy on Thursday when they were fishing Neduntheevu.

The Sri Lankan Navy also arrested nine fishermen on Wednesday with alleged charge of fishing in Sri Lanka's territorial waters. All the nine fishermen from Manadapam in Ramanathapuram district, the sources said.
