Five people drown in Koshi river

Saharsa, Jun 23 (UNI) Five people comprising four girls and an old man drowned in Koshi river near Shahpur village under Nauhatta police station area in the district today.

Police said here that girls and elderly person met their watery grave in the river near Devanvan Mandir when they were taking bath in it. Local divers fished out the body of an old person identified as Mahendra Gupta (62) from the river.

Police said efforts were underway to fish out bodies of four girls from the river. Sources said SDO (Sadar) and circle officer of Nauhatta were camping at the spot.
