Forest officials seize 50 birds in Puducherry

Puducherry, May 11 (UNI) Puducherry Forest officials on Saturday seized 50 birds up for sale on the road at Odiyampet area.

According to sources, on a tip-off, forest officials rushed to the area and found 25 cranes and as many parrots displayed for sale and brought them back to the forest department.

Action is being initiated against those involved in the crime under the forest act, the sources said, adding that the officials also advised the public against buying or selling such birds as it is an offence.
