Former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba calls APM at her residence after hotel refuses permission

Srinagar, Aug 4 (UNI) After a local hotel was allegedly directed by authorities not to allow holding of any political meeting, former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said the All Party Meeting (APM) will be now held at her Gupkar residence this evening.

'We have invited all political parties to attend the APM at a hotel to discuss the present situation arising after deployment of thousands of central forces and advisory to Amarnath pilgrims and tourists to curtail their stay and leave the valley,' Ms Mufti said.

She said the hotel management has informed us that due to instruction from the authorities, they cannot allow the meeting to be held in the hotel. 'We have now decided to hold the APM at my residence at 1800 hrs to discuss the prevailing situation and future strategy,' she said.

Mufti claimed that she has spoken to former chief minister and National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah and invited him for APM. However, she said since Dr Abdullah is not feeling well, he has informed that NC vice-president Omar Abdullah will attend the meeting.

The former CM, along with leaders of different political parties, including Shah Faesal, Sajjad Gani Lone, Imran Raza Ansari and others, have recently met Governor Satya Pal Malik and expressed their concern over the prevailing situation.

Omar Abdullah led delegation of the NC also met the Governor separately and discussed the situation in Kashmir.
