Former UP Chief Secretary Anup Chandra Pandey is new Election Commissioner

New Delhi/UNI: Anup Chandra Pandey, a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has been appointed as the new Election Commissioner.

Pandey, a former Uttar Pradesh chief secretary, is a retired IAS officer of the 1984 batch from Uttar Pradesh cadre.

The Ministry of Law and Justice on Wednesday said President Ram Nath Kovind appointed Anup Chandra Pandey, IAS (Retd.) as the Election Commissioner in the Election Commission of India, with effect from the date he assumed the office.

According to the Ministry, a notification in this regard has been issued by the Legislative Department, Ministry of Law & Justice late last evening.
