Fresh trouble for Mamata: Complaint filed over explosive Amit Shah claim in Osman Hadi case

Kolkata/IBNS: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee faces fresh trouble as a complaint has been filed against her over controversial remarks she made regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the killing of Bangladeshi student leader Osman Hadi.

The complaint was lodged in Siliguri by advocate Rinky Chatterjee Singh of the Calcutta High Court's Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench.

What Did Mamata Banerjee Say?

During a sit-in protest in central Kolkata on Tuesday, Mamata Banerjee claimed that Amit Shah had contacted her after suspects linked to the killing of Bangladeshi activist Osman Hadi were arrested in West Bengal.

While making the allegation, Banerjee did not directly name Hadi.

According to her, the Union Home Minister had asked her to remain silent about the identities of those arrested.

"The government (in West Bengal) may have changed but I know the inside story," Banerjee alleged training her guns at Shah.

The remarks triggered political reactions in both India and Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Responds

Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shama Obaed, said comments made by a political leader in another country were not a matter for Bangladesh to discuss.

She added that Dhaka was pursuing the matter through official diplomatic channels with the Government of India.

What Does the Complaint Allege?

In her complaint, advocate Rinky Chatterjee Singh alleged that Mamata Banerjee had attempted to derive political mileage from a political killing in Bangladesh by linking the Union Home Minister to the issue.

The complainant described the remarks as a serious matter warranting legal scrutiny and urged authorities to take action under relevant provisions of law.

She further alleged that such statements could provoke tensions and potentially affect the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh.

Call for Investigation

The complaint also called for the identification of individuals allegedly working with "Deep State" and Jamaat-linked elements to undermine India's sovereignty.

Additionally, the complainant raised questions regarding the Trinamool Congress and accused certain political forces of attempting to create unrest in the country.

Mamata Banerjee voted out of power

The complaint comes amid heightened political tensions in West Bengal following the recent Assembly election.

Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress was voted out of power after 15 years in office, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) securing a decisive victory and forming the government in the state for the first time.
