Goa Archbishop urges voters not to vote for corrupt, communal, divisive candidates

Panaji, Apr 20 (UNI) Goa's archbishop Fillipe Neri Ferrao on Saturday urged voters not vote for candidates who are 'corrupt, communalise, exploit and divide.'

In his message on the eve of Easter Sunday, the archbishop said,''On this Easter day I would like to extend my cordial wishes to all those who believe in what Christians worldwide celebrate today: the triumph of Jesus over death and evil and His promise of eternal life to all who believe in Him. Those who observe Easter believe that Christ did not end up in the tomb, but that He rose from the dead, making us sharers in His new life. Easter encourages us to infuse our society with newness of life and purpose.''

''As we stand on the threshold of Parliamentary Elections as well as by-elections in some our state constituencies, let us pray that our electorate will vote for the forces which empower the weak, the marginalized and the exploited, rather than those that corrupt, communalize, exploit and divide,'' he said.
