Government committed to one rank one pension : Modi

| | May 30, 2015, at 03:46 pm
New Delhi, May 30 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said his government is committed to the One Rank One Pension, which ex-servicemen are awaiting for long.

In a tweet on Saturday morning, the PM said, "On OROP- the Govt is committed to OROP & there's no doubt about it."

On Friday, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said that the 'One Rank One Pension' "was on its way" but he cannot promise a date for its implementation.

The minister made the announcement at a programme which was boycotted by two war veterans.

"My ministry has completed all formalities and OROP will be implemented," Parrikar said and explained that the executive process takes some time.

Two war veterans, who were to be felicitated at the function, did not turn up in protest against the delay in implementing 'one rank one pension' policy, which means that people retiring in the same rank and with the same length of service will get equal pension, irrespective of when they retired.
