Govt passed 'historic' bills under PM Modi's leadership: Pralhad Joshi

| @indiablooms | Dec 23, 2023, at 02:06 am

New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi Friday said the Narendra Modi government has passed "historic" bills including the abrogation of Article 370 and the three criminal law bills in the last five years.

Addressing a press conference here, Joshi said, the three bills - Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 passed by Parliament, will bring a total change in the Indian Criminal justice system.

"The criminal justice laws will remove the colonial imprint from our systems and have been designed according to our present-day requirements which will serve the nation for the next 100 years," he said.

He also informed that in this winter session, a total of 19 bills have been passed.

Slamming the opposition parties over Vice President and Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar mimicry by a Trinamool Congress MP, Joshi said: "Mimicking the (Rajya Sabha) Chairman constitutes a gross violation by the MP, and taking a mimicry video is deemed egregious."

Minister of State, of Parliament Affairs Minister Arjun Meghwal said, "Act of mimicry of Vice-President by Opposition MPs is another issue, but Congress MP Rahul Gandhi recording a video of that act and 'enjoying' it is quite unfortunate".

After getting suspended, Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee mimicked Dhankhar on the steps of the Makar Dwar of the new Parliament building. His mimicry was allegedly recorded by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on his mobile.
