Srinagar/UNI: Former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz on Tuesday described the UNESCO tag to Srinagar as a great moment of joy which will make a lot of our craftsmen and women better in improving their living.

“It is a great moment of joy for all of us that UNESCO has nominated Srinagar as a new member of UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network 2021 under the Crafts and Folk category. This declaration of UNESCO will make a lot of our craftsmen & women better”, Soz said.

He said, the UNESCO declaration recognizes the rich heritage of the arts and crafts of Jammu and Kashmir in general and Srinagar in particular.

Soz said the UNESCO tag will boost the marketability of our crafts in the international market which would definitely help the poor craftsmen in improving their living.

“It will also boost the awareness about this city and its significance with respect to Arts and Crafts which shall definitely boost tourism of the state and development of products produced by the craftsmen and women of Kashmir”, Soz added.

“I would also like the craftsmen should approach Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for seeking help from UNESCO”, Soz added.

He congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir for UNESCO’s nomination of Srinagar as a new member of UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network 2021.

Soz congratulated the INTACH, particularly its Srinagar Chapter for this achievement. The INTACH’s Srinagar Chapter has been working hard for this achievement.
