Guwahati/IBNS: In a daring operation, a team of Guwahati city police along with Manipur police have been able to arrest and bring back to Assam a very important linkman of a Manipur based drug trafficking network that was trying to spread its tentacles in Guwahati.

The operation was conducted in the Moirang area of Bishnupur district of Manipur, which is considered very sensitive from the Law & Order perspective.

The arrested accused was identified as Shabir Ahamad (29 years) s/o Md. Naseer Ahamad of Kwakta, Moirang PS, Bishnupur District, Manipur.

The arrest was made in connection with Basistha PS Case No 1533/21 u/s 21(C)/29 NDPS Act, which relates to the earlier seizure of a large quantity of Heroin and a truck as well as the arrest of 2 accused in Guwahati on August 19.

Preliminary questioning has revealed valuable information about drug trafficking networks. Investigation of the case is on to unearth further linkages.
