Half burnt body of a woman found at Chamundi Hills where efforts continuing to extinguish forest fire

Mysuru, Mar 9 (UNI) An unidentified charred body of a 35 year-old woman was found at Chamundi Hills where the fire-fighters of the Karnataka Forest department trying to extinguish the fire on Friday night.

Forest officials said on Saturday that Hundreds of acres of forest have been reduced to ashes in the wildfire. When the volunteers and forest department officials were extinguishing the fire, they found the half-burnt body of the woman near a rock and they informed the police immediately.

K R Police visited the spot and sent the body to the mortuary of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute . K R ACP Dharmappa also visited the spot. Police said that the woman may have died 4-5 days ago and the body could not be identified. Police have registered a complaint.


DCF Dr K C Prashant, RFO Govindaraj and more than 30 staff were trying to extinguish the fire. More than 100 fire brigade men rushed to the spot with district fire brigade officer Gururaj and succeeded in extinguishing the fire after continuous efforts for 6 hours.
