Heavy rain lashes Delhi, house collapses in ITO

New Delhi/UNI: Heavy rains which lashed various parts of Delhi on Sunday morning, resulted in waterlogging and traffic jams in various parts of the city.

Following the incessant rainfall, a bus got stuck in a waterlogged road at the Minto Bridge underpass.

The driver and the conductor who were trapped inside the bus were rescued by fire department personnel.

Reacting to the Minto Bridge incident, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah in a tweet said, ' No Delhi monsoon is complete without a 'bus stuck under Minto bridge' story. Thankfully this year is no different.'

According to the Met Department, 74.8 mm rainfall was recorded till 0830 hrs.

The Delhi Traffic Police said traffic was affected from Azadpur to Mukarba Chowk, Yashwant Place to Ashoka Road, at Ring Road, Bhairon Road, and near Mundka metro station due to waterlogging.

According to the Met Department, the minimum temperature was 23.4 degrees Celsius which was four degrees below normal.

The Met Department in its forecast has said that the maximum temperature in Delhi on Sunday is expected to be around 33 degrees Celsius.

On June 25, the IMD had announced onset of the Southwest Monsoon in the national capital.

The monsoon reached Delhi slightly earlier as usually arrival of Monsoon happens on June 27 in the national capital.  

Meanwhile, a video of a building collapse in Delhi's ITO region has gone viral on the social media.

In the video, a house could be seen getting washed away by the rushing water.  

Gautam Gambhir, former Indian cricketer-turned-politician, slammed Kejriwal over the condition of Delhi following the rains.
