Himachal HC stops physical hearing after COVID patient allegedly enters premises

Shimla/UNI: The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Thursday stopped hearing the cases physically after a COVID-19 positive patient allegedly entered the court complex, a senior Judicial Officer confirmed.

Court's Registrar General Verinder Singh told UNI over phone that all the cases are now being virtually heard, following the closure of the High Court complex.

As a precautionary measure, the complete complex was sanitized.

No official of the court, state counsel or private counsels have tested positive or have been quarantined so far.

Tajinder Thakur, who had tested positive on July 21 at Mandi, did not enter the complex, however, the court administration adopted the above measures as a precaution, Singh added.

The HC official is in touch with State Nodal Officer and Additional Secretary, Health R D Dhiman, about the information related to COVID-19 contacts, he said.

Despite the advise to follow the pandemic protocol, Dhiman did not apprise the HC about any COVID positive case or contact so far, he added.

Singh denied that an Additional Advocate General and other people belonging to the HC came in contact with the Tajinder Thakur during his recent stay in Shimla.
