Solan/UNI:  A labourer was killed and four others sustained serious injuries in a blast on the premises of Sidhi Vinayak Steel factory at Nangal village under Nalagarh sub division in this district, on Friday.

The injured were rushed to a private hospital from where doctors referred them to PGIMER Chandigarh. The body of the workers was sent to Nalagarh civil hospital for autopsy.

Preliminary investigations by police revealed that the blast took place on Tuesday morning when workers were carrying out routine operations, leaving one worker dead on the spot. Nalagarh administration had summoned a team of forensic experts from Shimla that lifted the samples from the site of mishap.

Nalagarh Sub Divisional Magistrate Prashant Deshta, who visited the mishap site, said cause of the blast could not be ascertained immediately but prima facie, it appeared that lack of safety measures led to the tragedy. He said an immediate relief has been given to the next of the kin of family of the deceased worker and family members of the injured labourers.

The police have registered a case against the factory management.
