Himachal Pradesh: Seven die after cloudburst in Solan

Solan: At least seven people died in a cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh's Solan district on Monday, authorities said.

According to reports, six people were rescued after the cloudburst from Mamligh village of Kandaghat subdivision in the district.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued Orange alerts for Himachal Pradesh when it posted on X: "#HimachalPradesh is likely to get Isolated Heavy to Very heavy rainfall on 13th August."

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday mourned the loss of lives in the tragedy.

He wrote on X: "Devastated to hear about the loss of 7 precious lives in the tragic cloud burst incident at Village Jadon, Dhawla Sub-Tehsil in Solan District."

"My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving families. We share in your pain and sorrow during this difficult time," he said.

"We have directed the authorities to ensure all possible assistance and support to the affected families during this trying period," he said.
