Seattle, Feb 17 (IBNS) A Hindu temple was vandalized with a hate message- Get Out- and spray painting of a Swastika sign in the US state of Washington, triggering shock and a probe by the police.

According to Hindu Association of America, on the eve of Maha Shivaratri celebrations, the Bothell Hindu Temple Cultural Center was vandalized with messages of hate.

"Another example of how Hinduphobia continues to exist in our society," said the association on a Facebook post.

According to media reports, the police in Bothell said whoever spray-painted the Hindu temple with a swastika and the words “get out” may be responsible for a similar message at a nearby junior high school.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the vandalism, said reports.

Two swastikas were spray-painted on buildings at Skyview Junior High School earlier, according to Bothell police, said KIRO TV Channel 7 saw graffiti that read “Muslims get out” near a swastika on the building.

The spray-painted graffiti were discovered by the Hindu community members on Sunday morning.
