Ill brother not getting treatment: Woman shares her grief with Rahul Gandhi on Kashmir flight

| @indiablooms | Aug 24, 2019, at 09:05 pm

New Delhi/Srinagar: A woman was caught in a video footage sharing her grief with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while he was on his flight to Jammu and Kashmir.

In the video, the woman co-passenger is heard saying her "heart patient" brother is not getting proper treatment in Kashmir where Section 144 is still in place.

Rahul, who remained in his seat, was seen comforting the woman while Congress MP Ghulam Nabi Azad and Trinamool Congress leader Dinesh Trivedi were looking on.

The Congress leader along with a battery of opposition leaders went to Srinagar on Saturday days after the Centre scrapped Articles 370 and 35A to withdraw Jammu and Kashmir's special status. All the opposition leaders- belonging to parties like Congress, CPI-M, CPI, Trinamool Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal, DMK, Nationalist Congress Party- were sent back from the Srinagar Airport.

In a video shared on Twitter, Rahul, standing beside his party colleague Ghulam Nabi Azad, was seen asking an official why they were not allowed to visit the valley if the situation is normal as claimed by the government.

Several Jammu and Kashmir leaders including former Chief Ministers- Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti- have still been kept under detention.
