India and Vietnam sign three agreements in the presence of PM Narendra Modi and President Tran Dai Quang

New Delhi, Mar 3 (IBNS): Three agreements were signed between India and Vietnam on Saturday after delegation level talks between Indian PM Narendra Modi and Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang, according to media reports.

"Trade between India and Vietnam is growing despite global slowdown," said PM Modi while address the joint press briefing.

President Tran Dai Quang said, "Vietnam committed to further strengthen its ties with India in different areas including energy and connectivity."

The President also said that regional security, including maritime and cyber security, was one of their key areas of discussion,

"People to people activities should be more between India and Vietnam," he said.

Three agreements were signed, according to a Ministry of External Affairs release.

One, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  on Economic and Trade Cooperation, with the purpose of establishing  a framework for enhancing economic and trade promotion.

Two, a Work Plan for the years 2018-2022 between the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam (the purpose of this Work Plan is to promote cooperation in transfer of technology and exchange of visits of technical experts in the fields of agriculture and allied).

Three, an MoU on Cooperation between the Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership, India (GCNEP) and the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM), with the purpose of strengthening the technical cooperation in the field of atomic energy for peaceful purposes.

Tran Dai Quang, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, is on a state visit to India between March 2 and 4, 2018 at the invitation of President of India Ramnath Kovind.
