New Delhi, Jan 26 (IBNS): India on Saturday is celebrating the 70th Republic Day when the country is going to observe the last public display before the upcoming LokSabha polls.

Elections will be held in the next four months.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the nation and tweeted: "Happy Republic Day to all fellow Indians. "

The celebration in Delhi will commence with the laying of a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The chief guest of the event will be South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Modi had invited him for the event. They had met at sidelines of the G20 summit in Argentina last year.

During the 90-minute parade, twenty-two tableaux of states and central government departments, and performances by school children will be displayed.

Security heightened:

Security has been heightened across the nation especially after two suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists were arrested from the national capital on Thursday.

Thousands of police personnel have been deployed across the city for the special day of the year.
