India, China reaffirm commitment to peace, tranquillity along border at Corps Commander Meeting

India and China held the 23rd Corps Commander Level Meeting recently, when they shared the view that peace and tranquillity have been maintained in the border areas.

The countries reached a pact last year to lower tensions on the border after conflicts occurred in 2020.

Since the pact was reached, the two neighbours have initiated measures to improve ties.

A statement issued by the MEA: "The 23rd round of India-China Corps Commander Level Meeting was held at Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on 25th October 2025. This was the first meeting of the General Level Mechanism in the Western Sector since the 24th round of Special Representatives Talks held on 19 August 2025. The talks were held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere."

"The two sides noted the progress since the 22nd round of Corps Commander Level Meeting held in October 2024 and shared the view that peace and tranquility has been maintained in the India-China border areas," the statement said.

After a gap of seven years, Indian PM Narendra Modi visited China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin.

He described his visit to the country as 'productive'.

"Concluding a productive visit to China, where I attended the SCO Summit and interacted with various world leaders. Also emphasised India’s stand on key global issues. Thankful to President Xi Jinping, the Chinese government and people for the successful organisation of this Summit," he wrote on X.
