India, Denmark to review progress of Green Partnership
New Delhi/UNI: India and Denmark are set to review the progress of their Green Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit and expand multifaceted cooperation in areas like renewable energy, environmental policy, trade, climate policy and science and technology.
At the invitation of Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen, Modi is visiting the country as part of his three nation tour.
The Denmark visit would provide both sides an opportunity to review the progress of Green Strategic Partnership between the two countries as well as examine ways to further expand multifaceted cooperation in other areas.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially announced the Green Strategic Partnership at a virtual summit on Sept 28 2020.
It was the first of its kind arrangement between India and Denmark.
The aim of the partnership was to expand cooperation between the two countries in renewable energy, environmental policy, trade, climate policy, and science and technology.

In Oct 2021, Prime Minister of Denmark Frederiksen came to India on a three day state visit to accelerate the ambitious Green Strategic Partnership.
In a press conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Frederiksen said that both Denmark and India are democratic nations that believe in a rule-based international system and a greener world. PM Modi welcomed Denmark as its first non-tropical member of the India-based International Solar Alliance(ISA) that aims to reduce dependency on fossil fuels.
During the current visit, Prime Minister Modi is set to also attend an India-Denmark Business Forum and also address members of the Indian diaspora. India and Denmark have strong trade and investment ties as more than 200 Danish companies are present in India and over 60 Indian companies are operating in Denmark.
The bilateral component of the visit will also include an audience with Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II.
The PM will also participate in the 2nd India-Nordic Summit being hosted by Denmark. During the 2nd India-Nordic Summit, Prime Minister will also interact with other Nordic leaders- Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir of Iceland, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre of Norway, Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson of Sweden and Prime Minister Sanna Marin of Finland.
The Summit will focus on subjects like post-pandemic economic recovery, climate change, innovation and technology, renewable energy, the evolving global security scenario and India-Nordic cooperation in the Arctic region.
The 1st India-Nordic Summit took place in 2018 in Stockholm.
On his return journey on May 4, the Prime Minister will briefly stop over in Paris and meet France President Emmanuel Macron.
India and France are celebrating 75 years of their diplomatic relations this year and the meeting between the two leaders will set a more ambitious agenda of the Strategic Partnership.
