New Delhi, Feb 20 (IBNS): India on Monday lauded Pakistan's effort of putting Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)/Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed's name on its terror list.

Speaking to reporters, Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Vikas Swarup said: "It is a logical first step in bringing them to justice and in ridding our region of the twin menaces of terrorism and violent extremism."

He said that Saeed is responsible for terror activities in Pakistan's neighbourhood.

On Saturday, the provincial government of Punjab included names of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and one of his close aides, Qazi Kashif, in the fourth schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), Dawn.com reported.

Hafiz Saeed’s name has also been put on the exit control list.

Saeed is said to be the mastermind of 2008 Mumbai attack which claimed lives of 166 people.
