The Government of India will soon implement restrictions on the free movement of people between India and Myanmar.

A visa for travel between India and Myanmar will be required, Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Saturday.

He announced this while speaking at the Passing Out Parade (POP) of Newly Appointed Commandoes of Assam Police and at a Rally in Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati.

The Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chosen to review the Free Movement Regime (FMR) agreement between India and Myanmar.

Shah emphasized that the India-Myanmar border will be sealed soon.

Assam Police has a glorious history. Assam Police is facing a lot of challenges compared to the police of other states of India, he added.

The Home Minister claimed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from 2014 to 2024, there has been a 73% reduction in violence in Naxal-affected areas, Kashmir, and the North East.
