India played a constructive role in Afghanistan: Pentagon

| @indiablooms | Aug 10, 2021, at 10:38 pm

Washington:  Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby has acknowledged India's role in Afghanistan and said the country played a constructive role in the neighbouring nation which is currently witnessing a spike in Taliban activities in recent months.

Kirby told reporters: "India has played a constructive role in Afghanistan in the past in terms of training and -- and other infrastructure improvements."

"Clearly, that kind of work, that kind of effort to help Afghanistan, you know, maintain stability and good governance, is always welcomed. But in terms of the specifics, I would again refer you to my state department colleagues," he said.

Pakistan is witnessing a massive surge of Taliban activities in recent weeks ever since the foreign forces started leaving the nation.

The Taliban has been taking control over major cities in recent days, leaving the political situation in the war-torn nation in jeopardy.
