India reacts to Modi's victory

New Delhi, May 16 (IBNS): As India gears up to welcome Narendra Modi as the next Prime Minister of the country, with the Bharatiya Janata Party- led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) registering a historic win, celebrities and politicians took it to micro-blogging site Twitter to express their views.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor ‏tweeted: "Still touring my constituency to thank party workers, but before it's too late, congratulations @NarendraModi &BJP on an astonishing victory."

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan ‏tweeted: "Many congratulations to Shri @Gen_VKSingh for a thumping victory, he brings BJP, a great wisdom of leadership. Heartiest congratulations to Shri @nitin_gadkari ji for the great victory. His leadership has always brought BJP a great success"

Actor and BJP candidate Shatrughan Sinha tweeted: "Thank you to the people of Patna Sahib,well wishers & all BJP supporters fortheir hard work who helped me win by record margin #CongratsNaMo."

Congress's Abhishek Singhvi ‏tweeted: "I congratulate the government on their victory and hope they take India forward."

Southern superstar Rajinikanth tweeted :"Hearty Congratulations dear @narendramodi Ji on your historic win. Best wishes."

He also wished Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalaithaa for her AIADMK's strong performance in the polls and said: "My congratulations to Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha ji on her landslide victory."

Bollywood  superstar Shah Rukh Khan tweeted: "What a solid mandate given by the ppl.It proves again that the only constant is change.Now to move forward with strong & active faith,India."

Actor Anupam Kher posted: "Congratulations @KirronKherBJP for winning the Chandigarh Parliamentary seat by a margin of more than 69000 votes. Jai Ho.:)"

Author Chetan Bhagat tweeted: "Today, hope won, hate lost. Today, work won,whining lost. Today, my India won, nobody lost. Congrats @narendramodi and BJP for historic win!"

Social commentator Suhel Seth tweeted: "May 16 will be remembered as India's second Independence. This time from dynastic rule!"

Actress Divya Dutta ‏tweeted: "@AnupamPkher @KirronKherBJP Mubarak! Dher saari"

Bengali film actor Prosenjit Chatterjee tweeted: "Congrats to all my colleagues and seniors for the big win @Moondi, @Sandhyadi, @SuPriyoBabul @TapasPaul, @SatabdiRoy."

Trends on Friday showed a NDA government in New Delhi under Narendra Modi is now almost a reality.
