Indian govt issues revised guidelines for Coronavirus lockdown

New Delhi/IBNS: The Indian government on Wednesday issued revised guidelines to be followed in the country till May 3 as the nation entered its second phase of the extended lockdown to combat COVID-19.

The directions have been issued by the Indian government just a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended the national lockdown during his national address.

According to the guidelines, travel by air, rail and road, operation of educational and training institutions, industrial and commercial activities, hospitality services, cinema halls and shopping complexes will remain closed during the period.

The government statement said all social, political and other events and opening of all religious places will also remain shut.

As per the guidelines, the government has made the use of homemade face covers at workplace and public places mandatory.

The death toll due to COVID-19 in India now stands at 377, as per latest Ministry of Health data revealed on Wednesday.

India has recorded  11,439 cases so far.

In the past 24 hours, 38 people have died and 1,076 cases have been reported in the country.

India on Tuesday extended the lockdown till May 3.

The 21-day lockdown was supposed to end on Apr 14.
