Indian national stabbed in Canada, S Jaishankar expresses shock
New Delhi/IBNS: Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday expressed his shock over the stabbing of an Indian national in Canada.
Jaishakar asked his Ministry officials to help the family members of the victim.
"Deeply shocked to learn of the serious attack on Rachel Albert, an Indian student in Toronto, Canada. Am asking MEA officials to help with her family’s visa. Family members may immediately contact us on +91 9873983884," Jaishankar tweeted.
According to media reports, the Indian national, who as identified as Rachel Albert and belongs to the southern state of Tamil Nadu, was stabbed on Thursday.
The victim is undergoing treatment in Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Rachel Albert, a Master’s student at York University, was walking near her campus when a man reportedly assaulted her, pushing and dragging her, reported The News Minute.
Speaking to The News Minute, Rebecca, Rachel’s sister says, “We're not clear about how this incident took place. The need of the hour is for my family to get a visa to visit Rachel. The visa process is complicated. We are still figuring it out. We are seeking the help of the External Affairs Minister.”
