Jammu, July 22 (IBNS) In a fresh truce violation Tuesday, Pakistani troops targeted Indian forward posts in Jammu and Kashmir's Akhnoor sector in which an Indian soldier was killed and two others sustained bullet injuries, a defense Spokesman based in Jammu said.

He said, "the firing was effectively retaliated by our troops," adding that in exchange of fire one soldier- Naik Mongchon of 3 Naga regiment-got killed while two other were wounded.

The Pakistan Army used automatic and small-caliber weapons in Pallanwalla area of Akhnoor sector.

"The firing was intended to facilitate the infiltration of militants into our side of the LoC," he said.

"The infiltration attempt has been foiled but searches are still going on in the area,"  he added.
