India's aviation watchdog expected to discuss Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft use with Jet & SpiceJet
New Delhi, Mar 11 (IBNS): India's aviation watchdog DGCA is expected to speak to Jet Airways and SpiceJet representatives in the wake of the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft crash on Sunday that killed 157 people, NDTV said.
The two India-based airlines operate this aircraft.
Four Indians were among those killed in Sunday's crash, the cause of which is still not clear yet.
This is the second major plane crash involving the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The other involved a Lion Air flight in October, 2018 that killed all the 189 people on board.
China has suspended operation of the aircraft model.
SpiceJet told NDTV that it was currently operating all 13 of its Max 8 planes.
In a statement, Boeing said: "We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families and loved ones of the passengers and crew on board and stand ready to support the Ethiopian Airlines team. A Boeing technical team will be travelling to the crash site to provide technical assistance under the direction of the Ethiopia Accident Investigation Bureau and U.S. National Transportation Safety Board."
