New Delhi/IBNS: An IndiGo flight carrying 161 passengers made an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on Saturday following an engine failure, media reports said.

All passengers were evacuated safely, and no damage was reported.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot after authorities received information about the emergency at around 10:54 am.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737 operating as flight 6E 579, was travelling from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. It had been wet-leased by IndiGo from Turkey-based Corendon Airlines.

An IndiGo spokesperson, as quoted by NDTV, said, “As a precautionary step and in accordance with standard operating procedures, the pilots requested priority landing, and the aircraft arrived safely in Delhi.

“All relevant authorities were promptly informed, and the aircraft is undergoing necessary checks and maintenance. At IndiGo, the safety of our customers and crew is our top priority.”
