Indian and Singaporean leaders discussed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation in areas of advanced technology, trade, connectivity and digitisation during the third round of the Ministerial Roundtable on Wednesday.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman,  Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry; and Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology, attended the meeting.

After attending the meeting, S Jaishankar wrote on X: "Delighted to attend the 3rd India Singapore Ministerial Roundtable #ISMR in New Delhi."

"The ISMR had a productive interaction with the India Singapore Business Roundtable #ISBR delegation. Synergy between Government & Industry is key to the unlocking next phase of ties," he said.

As per the Ministry of Finance statement, the Ministers recalled that the bilateral ties have been elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Singapore in 2024.

"Both sides deliberated upon six pillars identified under ISMR, which include #Digitalization, #Skill Development, #Sustainability, #Healthcare & Medicine, #Advanced Manufacturing and #Connectivity," the Ministry said.

Sharing details about the meeting, a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs earlier said: "Ministers from Singapore who will participate are Mr. Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry; Mr. K. Shanmugam, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs; Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Ms. Josephine Teo, Minister for Digital Development and Information; Dr. Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower; and Mr. Jeffrey Siow, Acting Minister for Transport."

What is ISMR?

Envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, ISMR is a unique mechanism for setting a new agenda for India–Singapore cooperation.

Its inaugural meeting was held in New Delhi in September 2022 and the 2nd meeting was held in Singapore in August 2024.

India and Singapore share a Comprehensive Strategic partnership.

The 3rd round of ISMR will identify avenues to further broaden and deepen our bilateral relations.
