Israel's new Ambassador to India presents his credentials to the President

New Delhi, July 31 (IBNS) Israel’s new Ambassador to India Daniel Carmon presented the “Letter of Credence” to the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee Thursday at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

After presenting his letter of Credence to the President, Ambassador Carmon said: "India and Israel not only share values such as being free and democratic societies but our two countries also share challenges like the threat of terror and the need for development. I am sure that our close existing cooperation in wide range of fields -from security to food security, from culture to agriculture - would only continue to grow and flourish in the coming years.  I am delighted that I will personally have the opportunity to contribute to
further enhancement of these solid and strong bilateral relations and I am looking forward to our joint work with the Indian people and the Indian Government.”

Ambassador Carmon joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1973. From 1978 to 1982, he served as Embassy Attaché in Washington, DC.

This was followed by a posting as Consul and Administrative Officer in Israel’s embassy in Buenos Aires, and then as Deputy Chief of Mission there.

From 1996 to 2000, he served as Head of the Information and Internet Division in the Department of Public Affairs.

From 2000 to 2004, he served as Head of the Bureau for Coordination, and Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s Director General’s Bureau. From 2005 to 2010, he served as Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative at Israel’s Mission to the United Nations in New York. In 2011, Ambassador Daniel Carmon was as appointed Deputy Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Head of MASHAV – Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation.
