Jagdeep Dhankhar appointed as West Bengal Governor

New Delhi, July 20 (IBNS):  Jagdeep Dhankhar has been appointed as the new Governor of West Bengal, officials said.

President of India Ram Nath Kovind made the appointment on Saturday.

Jagdeep Dhankhar is a senior advocate of the Supreme Court.

He will replace Keshari Nath Tripathi.

He served as the Governor of state for five years since 2014.

KN Tripathi's tenure as Governor in the state will end in July.

The President appointed Governors for Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Nagaland, West Bengal and Tripura states.

Anandiben Patel was transferred from Madhya Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh a the Governor of the state.

A statement issued by the President's office said: "The appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices."
