Jama Masjid Shahi Imam invites Sharif, skips Modi for son's anointment
New Delhi, Oct 30 (IBNS): Delhi Jama Masjid's Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari has triggered a controversy by inviting Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his son's anointment.
Bukhari has not only invited the Pakistani PM but has also dropped Prime Minister Narendra Modi's name from his guest list.
Citing the reason for not extending an invitation to Modi, Bukhari told media that the PM did not treat Muslims in proper way.
"Modi treated Muslims as second class citizens. He always kept Muslims away from himself and never gave us any importance," he was quoted as saying by media.
Bukhari's19-year-old son Shaban will be anointed on Nov 22.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi and party Vice President Rahul Gandhi have also been invited for the ceremony.
