Jammu and Kashmir: Encounter underway in Shopian

Srinagar, Mar 22 (IBNS): An encounter is currently going on between security forces and suspected terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian area on Friday, officials said.

An exchange of fire between security forces and the terrorists is currently going on, police said.

Security forces have cordoned off the entire area.

"Exchange of fire at #ImamSahib #Shopian. Area under Cordon. Details will follow. @JmuKmrPolice," Kashmir Police Zone tweeted.

Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a massive terror attack on Feb 14 where at least 40 Indian paramilitary forces personnel were killed.

The Pulwama attack incident was condemned across India.
