Jammu and Kashmir police bust a gang of burglars, three members arrested

Police on Saturday said that it busted a gang of burglars in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district and arrested three of its members with stolen property worth lakhs.

Police Station Gund received a written complaint from Tajamul Hussain, owner of Hung Park Restaurant on March 22, stating therein that during the intervening night of March 21-22, some unidentified persons broke locks barged into his restaurant, and stole valuable items like a generator, two inverter units, transformer, coffee machine, griller toaster, gas stove, gas cylinders, utensils, electric cables and damaged CCTV Cameras and other items.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Gund and investigation was entrusted to a special police team under the supervision of SDPO Kangan Muzaffar Jan.

After strenuous efforts and by taking the technical support, the police team zeroed in on a few suspects and started to hunt them.

“In the process, suspect Irshad Ahmad Kalwatho of Naninara, Sumbal was apprehended, and during sustained questioning, he admitted to having committed the crime and also disclosed the identity of the other accomplice accused persons Feroze Ahmad Kalwatho and Mohammad Saleem Kalu alias Jana, both residents of Naninara, Sumbal, who were subsequently arrested,” police said.

On their disclosure, the stolen property worth lakhs was recovered from different spots at Naninara, Sumbal.

During further questioning, additional stolen property was recovered which unveiled the non-reported theft cases by this notorious gang, police said.

Moreover, a Tata Mobile used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Further investigation is going on. More arrests and recovery of stolen property are expected.
