Jammu and Kashmir: Suspected terrorists gun down BJP leader in Kulgam, politicians condemn

Official sources told UNI that suspected militants fired at a BJP worker, identified as Javaid Ahmad Dar, outside his residence at Brazloo in Kulgam.

“Dar was critically injured in the attack,” the source said, adding the wounded was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The source further told UNI news agency that the gunmen managed to escape from the spot during the chaos created due to the firing.

 “Security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers,” the source added.

Politicians condemn:

Bharatiya Janata Party condemned the incident and tweeted: "J&K BJP strongly condemned the terror attack on Const President Homeshalibagh Sh Javed Ahmed Dar, those who are responsible for this will not be spared. May God give peace to departed soul & fortitude to their family to bear this terrible loss. Our condolences are with the family."

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted: "Terrible news from Kulgam. Javved Ahmed was gunned down in cold blood. I unreservedly condemn this terror attack & send my heartfelt condolences to Javved’s family and colleagues. May Allah grant him place in Jannat."

Another former CM Mehbooba Mufti also condemned the incident and posted: "Condemn the killing of BJP leader Javaid Dar & there is no place for such acts of violence. Sympathies & condolences to his family."

Recent attack:

This is the second incident in over a week when BJP workers were targeted in south Kashmir.
