Srinagar, Apr 25 (UNI) Two terrorists were killed on Thursday morning in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.

Meanwhile, restrictions have been imposed in many areas in Anantnag, where internet services have also been suspended for security reasons to prevent spreading of rumours.

Official sources said that following specific information about presence of militants, a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by Army, Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police and CRPF in Bagender Mohalla, Bijbehera in Anantnag in the wee hours on Thursday.

However, they said when security forces were moving towards a particular area, militants hiding there, fired at them with automatic weapons. “The security forces retaliated, ensuing in an encounter,” they added.

They said two militants were killed in the exchange of fire. "The operation was still going on when the reports last came in," they added.
