Jammu, Jun 5 (UNI): The winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday witnessed another hottest day of the season and sizzled at maximum temperature touching 42.4 degree Celsius.

Jammu earlier for past one-week recorded maximum temperatures from 40 degrees to 44 degrees Celsius.

However, all government and private schools falling in summer zone have been shut for summer vacations from June 1 to July 16.

“The maximum temperature on Saturday afternoon was recorded 44.5 degree Celsius and the minimum was 26.3 degree Celsius,” said a weatherman.

He added that the temperature will keep fluctuating between 40 degrees to 42 degrees in the next few days.

Famous Ranbir Canal in Jammu witnessed the heavy rush of people beating the heat in scorching summer.

Director, J&K Metrology Department, Sonam Lotus said, “heat wave warning is predicted for plains of Jammu region.”

Meanwhile, unscheduled power cuts have also irked the people of Jammu and they have appealed to the Governor’s administration to issue directions to the department to plug the loopholes.

The PDD has also appealed to the people not to misuse power and save electricity. The PDD men this afternoon also raided many locations to check power theft.
