Chennai, Dec 20 (IBNS) : Hours after a video of Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa lying on a hospital bed in Chennai was released on Wednesday on the eve of the  R K Nagar bypoll, AIADMK's  TTV Dhinakaran’s camp said that their supporter P Vetrivel uploaded it without  permission, media reports said.

Condemning the act, opposition DMK’s working president MK Stalin said that Jayalalithaa’s death “has not only been a mysterious one but after release of this video has been politicised to its lowest level.”

He said the  video will not have any impact on the RK Nagar bypoll.

Dhinakaran was not permitted to speak to the media, as per the election code of conduct, which came into force in RK Nagar, the bypolls of which will  be held on Thursday.

In the video Jayalalithaa was seen lying half on a hospital bed and sipping a drink.

The controversy had earlier broke that no one saw Jayalalithaa in hospital and also it was said that the former CM was brought to the hospital dead.

Jayalalitha survived in hospital for four months until her death in December, 2016.

The RK Nagar seat in Chennai had fallen vacant with Jayalalithaa's demise. The by-poll will be held on Dec 21 and Dinakaran is one of the contestants.

Media reports quoted Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni as saying that  the video, taken when Jayalalithaa was still alive, was a violation of Section 126 1(b) of the Representation of People’s Act which prohibits display of any ‘election matter’, inter-alia, on TV during the period of 48 hours fixed for conclusion of polls.

The offence invites a penalty of two years imprisonment, he said.
