Jharkhand: Congress, JMM break alliance ahead of Assembly polls
Ranchi, Oct 31 (IBNS): Ahead of the Jharkhand Assembly elections, alliance between the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has collapsed during pre-poll seat-sharing talks.
The alliance was 15-month old.
According to reports, the JMM has blamed three Congress leaders of sabotaging the deal for the sake of personal gains.
The Congress later announced that it will now join hands with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Janata Dal (United) to contest for the state’s 81 Assembly seats.
The JMM-Congress alliance broke following differences between the parties over seat sharing, said reports.
In the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly, the BJP holds 17 seats, JMM-15, Congress Party-12 and RJD-5 among others.
Jharkhand will go to five-phase polls, which will commence on Nov 25.
