Jharkhand scraps recruitment exams amid student protests, orders probe since 2014

The government has also decided to cancel the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC CGL) examinations, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said while addressing protesting students on Monday.

'All activities of TDPL should be cancelled'

Announcing the decision, Soren said all results and selections linked to TDPL would be scrapped.

“The results published by the TDPL, and all the candidates selected by the TDPL, or who participated, and all the activities of the TDPL that have taken place here, all of them should be cancelled,” the Chief Minister said.

The decision follows sustained protests by students over alleged irregularities in recruitment and examination processes.

CID to probe exams since 2014

Soren also announced a wider investigation into examinations conducted in Jharkhand over the past decade.

“All the mistakes, big or small, that have occurred since 2014 will be investigated. The CID will probe all exams held in Jharkhand since 2014,” he told the protesting students.

The move is expected to bring several past recruitment examinations under scrutiny as the government looks into allegations of irregularities.

Panel to recommend recruitment reforms

The Chief Minister further announced the formation of a committee to recommend reforms in the state's examination and recruitment system.

“We have decided to constitute a committee for reforms under the chairmanship of our IAS officer, Mr. Amitabh Kaushal,” Soren said.

The committee will examine the existing recruitment process and suggest measures aimed at preventing irregularities and restoring confidence among job aspirants.
