J&K: Six civilians killed in fresh border firing by Pak troops

Jammu, Nov 1 (IBNS): Pakistani troops resorted to heavy shelling killing six civilians, including two minor children, on Tuesday in Samba district and Balakote area of Mendhar in Poonch district, official said.

Eight others were also injured in the shelling.

An 18-year-old girl, two boys and two women, from Jerda village in Ramgarh sector of Samba district were killed.

The Pakistani forces started unprovoked shelling targeting posts as well as civilian areas in Ramgarh and Arnia areas at around 6 a.m.

Earlier on Tuesday, a 19-year-old girl was killed and two civilians were injured in Nowshera, Arnia and Ramgarh sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources said that Pakistani Rangers have been firing 82 mm and 120 mm mortars, apart from resorting to small arms and automatic weapons fire to target civilian areas. The BSF have been retaliating at all the places.

On Monday, an army jawan and a woman were killed and five others, including two army jawans, were injured in heavy Pakistani mortar shelling along the Line of Control in Rajouri and Poonch districts.

Nearly half a dozen people and four BSF soldiers have been killed so far and over 30 others injured in the recent skirmishes along the international border.

Meanwhile, Pakistani troops started firing in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district along the  LoC from 5.30 am in the morning.
