Join the Melting Pot – Consular Corps Charity Carnival of Mumbai in aid of charities

This will be the 19th edition of the Carnival. The Mumbai-based Consulates will present music and other cultural events as well as traditional dishes from their respective countries.

The funds raised from this event will be donated to four charities:     

Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization that builds homes and provides housing-related services to low-income, marginalized families across India;

Coros, a community owned and led organisation with an aim to eliminate all social discriminations in society and to deepen democracy;

EmancipAction exists to bring healing and hope to children broken by extreme sexual violence through innovative and pioneering mental healthcare;

Dayanand Hospital provides health source for a substantial population of tribal living below BPL in Talasari and Dahanu Talukas.

In all these years, Melting Pot – Consular Corps Charity Carnival has supported over 50 NGOS.

Gul Kripalani, convenor, Melting Pot – Consular Corps Charity Carnival said, “The success of the Melting Pot – Consular Corps Charity Carnival makes me proud. In a country like India where fusion food is gaining great importance, this is one event where the consulates in Mumbai have joined together to weave an evening with food and to push for the upliftment of the poor and the less privileged. Events like this give us a better understanding of each other’s culture. I would like to thank all my partners for supporting us since the inception.”

The 24 participating Consulates are Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Estonia, Iran, Kenya, Rwanda, Sweden, Canada, Gabon, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, Uganda and United Kingdom.

Heads of several Consulates appreciated the event and said they looked forward to it too.

Ramavtar Goeka, Hony. Consul General of Kenya said, “The consulate of the Republic of Kenya will continue to support the Melting pot, a food festival to raise money for the various charitable trusts. From our past experience we have had an awesome time! We felt very welcome and met some of the nicest people. The Oberoi staff were hospitable during the entire event. The service, ambiance and food were awesome. Big thanks to the Consular Corps members for their support and we look forward to being there again this year!”

Yves Perrin, Consul General of France in Mumbai said, “The Consular Corps Charity Carnival celebrates international cuisine and explores the melting pot of cultures through an annual charity soirée organized by the Consular Corps based in Mumbai under the able leadership of Mr. Gul Kripalani. I am happy to say that France has been a regular participant of this event since more than 10 years. I wish Mr. Gul Kripalani and the organizing committee the very best. I am sure this year will be even more spectacular and grander than before.”
